Isabelle Mahé Presents The Proposals from INNOVTE CAT Working Group
Isabelle Mahé, Head of Internal Medicine, Louis Mourier Hospital, APHP, Paris Cité University, shared on LinkedIn:
”The Proposals from the French multidisciplinary INNOVTE CAT Working Group for the management of cancer-associated thromboembolism have been published in ACVD.
Executive summary.”
Venous thromboembolism (VTE) is a frequent and serious complication in cancer patients, with rising incidence but declining mortality, leading to a growing population requiring long-term management of cancer-associated thrombosis (CAT).
Because CAT care is increasingly complex, a multidisciplinary French working group reviewed challenges in real-world practice—including care pathways, home management, treatment decisions, and management of special populations such as the elderly, patients with renal impairment, brain tumors, thrombocytopenia, or central venous catheters.
The group highlights significant gaps in evidence, particularly for high-risk subgroups and recurrent VTE, and proposes practical guidance to improve coordination and clinical decision-making across specialties.
