Penilla Gunther: Patient Voices Take Center Stage in Cardiovascular Prevention at ESC Congress 2026

Penilla Gunther, Member of Steering Board at EU-CiP: The EU Cancer Information Portal Project, shared Jens Naeumann’s post on LinkedIn:

“The second trip last week to Munich and to the European Society of Cardiology Congress and the symposium (See the headline at the photo below), hosted by MSD Europe.

Thank you Abby Amit and the team for all support and thank you to my fellow panelists Chloe Greene, Jens Naeumann, Michal Vrablík and moderator Børge Nordestgaard for a good conversation on stage!

And thank you to the audience – a meeting room that was more than full shows the need of hearing patients’ voices.”

Jens Naeumann, CEO of Initiative Herzklappe e.V., shared a post on LinkedIn:

“A full room and a strong patient voice at ESC Congress 2026!

It was a real pleasure to be part of today’s Patient Engagement Symposium at the ESC Congress in Munich, discussing how we can move ‘From Risk to Responsibility’ in cardiovascular prevention.

Seeing the room completely full was a great reminder that patient engagement and cardiovascular prevention are topics that matter – and deserve attention.

Together with Chloe Greene and Penilla Gunther, I had the opportunity to bring the patient perspective into the discussion – looking at advocacy and access, communication, and how we can move from advocacy towards systematic implementation.

For me, one message is particularly important: patients should not simply be recipients of prevention and healthcare.

They should be active partners in shaping them.

A big thank you to my fellow speakers Michal Vrablík, Chloe Greene and Penilla Gunther for the inspiring exchange – and especially to Børge Nordestgaard for the excellent moderation and for creating such an engaging discussion.

It was great fun – and, most importantly, the patient voice was not only present, but actively involved in the conversation.

That is exactly where it belongs.”
