C. Michael Gibson: A Meta-Analysis of DOACs and DAPT After Left Atrial Appendage Closure

C. Michael Gibson, President and CEO at Baim Institute for Clinical Research, Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School, Executive Board Member at EXCITE International, shared Gregg W. Stone‘s post on X:

“In a meta-analysis, DOACs including low dose DOACs best DAPT in terms of bleeding and device related thrombosis following left atrial appendage closure.”

Gregg W. Stone, Interventional Cardiologist, Director of Academic Affairs for Mount Sinai Heart Health System, Professor of Medicine at Icahn School of Medicine, shared a post on X about a recent article he and his colleagues co-authored, published in EHJ, adding:

“Now published in EHJ: In 3 RCTs (n=704), 2-3-months  of treatment with DOACs (low dose in 2 trials), reduced device-related thrombosis (DRT) and major bleeding compared with DAPT, with no statistically significant differences in death and stroke or SE.

DRT has been associated with thromboembolic events, and the RR of 0.61 for stroke or SE favors DOAC use.”
