”Defective lymphangiogenesis and iron removal after hemarthrosis in factor VIII–deficient mice are rectified with therapeutic factor VIII administration — implications for joint health

Recurrent joint bleeding in hemophilia leads to iron deposition, impaired lymphangiogenesis, and progressive arthropathy.
In a murine model of factor VIII deficiency, researchers compared saline, short-course recombinant FVIII, and prolonged murine Fc-FVIII therapy following induced knee hemarthrosis.
Sustained FVIII activity (~30–40%) enabled normal lymphangiogenesis, rapid iron clearance, and cartilage recovery, whereas short or absent replacement resulted in synovial iron overload and poor repair.”
