Sara García Barcenilla: High-Quality Care for People with Hemophilia and Congenital Bleeding Disorders
Sara García Barcenilla, Nurse in the Thrombosis and Hemostasis Unit, La Paz-IdiPAZ University Hospital, shared an insightful post on LinkedIn:
”I am very very excited about the recent publication of our first approach to defining the competencies and optimal curriculum for hemophilia nurses in Spain!
We have worked with several nurses across the country and have reached consensus on the knowledge and skills nurses need at basic, advanced, and expert levels, our role in treatment management, monitoring patient-reported outcomes, and the importance of education and communication with patients, families, and colleagues.
This proposed three-tiered stratification could help define programs, accreditations, and policies, promoting consistent, high-quality care for people with hemophilia and congenital bleeding disorders.
Many thanks to the participating nurses and to the methodological support from Roche and Evidence.
This is my first article as lead author, and their experience and guidance have been key to my understanding of the process of preparing and disseminating our results.”
