Research question
Does adding prophylactic triple antithrombotic therapy to dual antiplatelet therapy after anterior myocardial infarction reduce the risk of left ventricular thrombus without compromising patient safety?
Main findings
- No significant reduction in left ventricular thrombus
- No reduction in all-cause mortality
- No reduction in thromboembolic events
Increased risk of major bleeding
Take-home message:
Current evidence does not support the routine use of prophylactic triple antithrombotic therapy after anterior myocardial infarction.
Antithrombotic therapy should be individualized, balancing thrombotic and bleeding risks.
