Joseph Italiano: Exploring the Intersection of Megakaryocyte Biology and Chronic Kidney Disease

Joseph Italiano, Associate Professor of Medicine of Harvard University and Co-founder of Platelet BioGenesis, shared a post on LinkedIn about recent article he and his colleagues co-authored:

“I’m excited to share our latest study, published in Blood Advances and led by Estelle Carminita, exploring the intersection of megakaryocyte biology and chronic kidney disease.

In this work, we demonstrate that chronic kidney disease reprograms megakaryocytes, driving the production of dysfunctional platelets.

We’re deeply grateful to our outstanding collaborators whose expertise and dedication made this work possible.”

Title: Platelet dysfunction in chronic kidney disease arises from bone marrow remodeling and megakaryocyte reprogramming
