Higher Fibrinogen γ′ Linked to Increased Risk of Recurrent Arterial Thrombosis – Journal of Thrombosis and Haemostasis
Journal of Thrombosis and Haemostasis (JTH) shared a post on LinkedIn about a recent article, by Nora Arvesen et al, adding:
“Association of fibrinogen γ’ with recurrent thrombosis: a nested case-control study
Fibrinogen γ’, a natural variant making up 10 to 15 percent of blood fibrinogen, is tied to first thrombotic events, but its link to recurrence was unknown.
Among 265 patients followed after an arterial or venous event, higher fibrinogen γ’ predicted recurrent arterial thrombosis, with a 5 percent rise carrying an odds ratio of 1.31. In the venous group the association ran inverse but was not significant.”
