Journal of Thrombosis and Haemostasis (JTH) shared a post on LinkedIn about a recent article by Claire Kelly et al, adding:
”What Constitutes High Risk for Venous Thromboembolism?
Determining an Appropriate Threshold to Initiate Prophylaxis
Analyzing nearly 48,000 hospitalized adults across multiple approaches — including cost-effectiveness analysis, physician surveys, and predictive modeling — this study finds that a VTE probability threshold of 1% optimally balances prophylaxis efficiency and adverse event prevention, advocating for explicit quantification of ‘high risk’ in clinical guidelines.”
