Variable Mechanisms of ADAMTS13 Inhibition by Autoantibodies in iTTP – JTH
Journal of Thrombosis and Haemostasis (JTH) shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Human monoclonal and polyclonal anti-ADAMTS13 antibodies in immune thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura: variable mechanisms of inhibition.
Antibodies against ADAMTS13 cause immune thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura, but how they disable the enzyme varies.
This work shows inhibition depends on the reaction conditions and differs between patients, and that antigen depletion is probably not the main mechanism in most cases.
The findings suggest current diagnostic assays may underestimate how often iTTP truly occurs.”
