Mark Mamlouk: When Postpartum Headache Signals More Than a CSF Leak
Mark Mamlouk, Neuroradiology Lead, Director of Spinal CSF Leak Program at The Permanente Medical Group, shared a post on X about a recent article he and his colleague co-authored, published in AJNR, adding:
“New in The AJNR:
Postpartum CVT and spinal CSF leak can coexist after epidural anesthesia.
3 takeaways:
- CVT – consider CSF leak
- Worsening/nonpostural PDPH – exclude CVT
- If both – anticoagulation and consider blood patch.”
