Mehmet Semin Çakir: Ticagrelor-Based Dual Antiplatelet Therapy in Stent Assisted Endovascular Treatment

Mehmet Semin Çakir, Faculty Member at Istanbul Faculty of Medicine, Division of Interventional Radiology, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“I’m pleased to share our latest publication in Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiology:

‘Safety and Efficacy of Ticagrelor-Based Dual Antiplatelet Therapy in Endovascular Treatment of Unruptured Intracranial Aneurysms’

In this single-center retrospective study, we evaluated the outcomes of ticagrelor-based dual antiplatelet therapy in 153 patients undergoing stent-assisted endovascular treatment.

Our findings demonstrate:

  • Low thromboembolic complication rates
  • Acceptable hemorrhagic risk profile
  • Consistent safety across different endovascular techniques, including flow diverters and stent-assisted coiling

These results support ticagrelor as a reliable alternative to clopidogrel, particularly in settings where variability in platelet response remains a concern.
