Natural Anticoagulants in Focus․ Protein C and S
Mahmood Hadavandi, the Chief Executive Officer of STT, shared on LinkedIn.
” Protein C and S – Natural Anticoagulants.
Protein C, activated by thrombin–thrombomodulin complex, degrades factors Va and VIIIa with the help of Protein S as a cofactor.
Deficiency of Protein C or S increases the risk of thrombosis and is one of the most common inherited causes of hypercoagulability.
Testing Protein C and S activity is essential in patients with unexplained or recurrent thrombosis.”
