Quintijn Bonnez: Detecting ADAMTS13 Structural Changes with Conformation-Sensitive Antibody 1C4
Quintijn Bonnez, Early-Career Board Member at Belgian Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis, shared on LinkedIn:
”New book chapter in Methods in Molecular Biology by Springer Nature.
We here describe how the conformation-sensitive Antibody 1C4 can be used to detect structure changes in ADAMTS13.
In closed ADAMTS13, the 1C4 epitope remains cryptic and only upon opening, potent 1C4 binding occurs.
Just a structural curiosity, or much more?
Over the last decade, we investigated the molecular mechanisms of ADAMTS13 conformation changes in Health and Disease.
Emerging as a powerful Biomarker, open ADAMTS13 supports the diagnosis of acute immune-mediated TTP and the prediction of early relapse risk.
