Ramsha Batool: Chemotherapy-Induced Anemia Impacts Quality of Life in Breast Cancer
Ramsha Batool, House Officer at Ghurki Trust and Teaching Hospital, shared a post on LinkedIn about a recent article she and her colleagues co-authored, published in Journal of Complementary and Integrative Medicine, adding:
“Excited to share that our research has been published!
Our study, ‘Prevalence of chemotherapy-induced anemia and its impact on quality of life in breast cancer patients’ has been published in the Journal of Complementary and Integrative Medicine.
This cross-sectional study included 100 breast cancer patients receiving chemotherapy at Ghurki Trust Teaching Hospital, Lahore.
We found that 61% developed chemotherapy-induced anemia, which was significantly associated with poorer global health, physical, emotional and social functioning, and increased fatigue. Moderate-to-severe anemia was associated with approximately 3.5 times higher odds of poor quality of life.
The findings highlight the importance of regular hematological monitoring and early management of anemia to improve quality of life during breast cancer treatment.
Grateful to all my co-authors, mentors, patients, and the Department of Oncology for making this work”
