Robert Major: GFAP as a Point-of-Care Biomarker in Intracerebral Hemorrhage
Robert Major, Chief Medical Officer at James Paget University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, shared a post on LinkedIn about a recent article by James Price et al, published in JAMA, adding:
“Great new study looking at GFAP in intra cerebral haemorrhage.
This biomarker can be a key diagnostic tool and is now point of care. Multiple potential uses for intra cranial injury, including stroke and haemorrhage.
This study looked at its utility in non traumatic coma and haemorrhage and is a great prehospital observational study.
This should lead to more work on this highly useful brain biomarker, and which clinical pathways could benefit from testing.”
Title: Prehospital Point-of-Care GFAP for Detection of Intracranial Hemorrhage in Acute Nontraumatic Coma
