Simone Strasser: ROTEM-Guided Transfusion Cuts Blood Product Use in Patients with Cirrhosis

Simone Strasser, Hepatologist at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, shared a post on LinkedIn about a recent article she and her colleagues co-authored, published in Clinical Gastroenterology and Hepatology, adding:

“ROTEM-guided transfusion significantly reduced blood product use without compromising safety in patients with cirrhosis undergoing invasive procedures.

Check out our findings in this RCT and stop the over-use of blood products just because of anxiety about a platelet count or INR.

Goal-directed care is important.”
