Umberto Pensato: EVT Treatment Effects Across Perfusion Profiles in MeVO Stroke

Umberto Pensato, Assistant Professor of Neurology at the Humanitas University, Research Collaborator at the University of Calgary, shared a post on LinkedIn about a recent article he and his colleagues co-authored, published in JAMA Network Open, adding:

”Our post-hoc analysis of the ESCAPE-MeVO trial explores the treatment effect of EVT vs. best medical therapy in acute stroke due to MeVO across perfusion mismatch profiles, now published in JAMA Network Open.

The results were perhaps unexpected for me, with no clear treatment-effect modification across perfusion profiles (though perhaps a signal for penumbral volume more than 30 mL?).

The quest to find ‘green flags’ to identify MeVO patients who benefit from EVT is still on going (favorable imaging, early time, and high NIHSS most promising so far)

Extremely grateful to Johanna Ospel, Michael Hill, Mayank Goyal and the full ESCAPE-MeVO group for the opportunity and their support.”
