Victor Aboyans։ Think About Lipids in VTE

Victor Aboyans, Head of Department at Centre Hospitalier Princesse Grace, shared Christian Heiss’s post on LinkedIn, adding:

”Happy to share this collaborative document.

Think about lipids in VTE.”

Christian Heiss, Associate Head of Medical School (Research and Innovation) at the University of Surrey, Professor and NHS Consultant in Interventional Cardiovascular Medicine, shared a post on LinkedIn about a recent article he and his colleagues co-authored, published in European Journal of Preventive Cardiology, adding:

”Very pleased to see our ESC/ESVM clinical consensus statement published in the European Journal of Preventive Cardiology.

VTE is traditionally viewed through the lens of anticoagulation — rightly so.

But VTE also shares important risk factors with atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease, and lipid levels are part of routine cardiovascular risk assessment.

This statement reviews the evidence for lipid-lowering therapy in primary and secondary VTE prevention, and highlights where data are still needed.

The key message for me: vascular prevention increasingly needs to think across arterial and venous disease — not in silos.”

Title: Lipid-lowering therapy in venous thromboembolism: A Clinical Consensus Statement of the ESC Working Group on Aorta and Peripheral Vascular Diseases, the ESC Working Group on Cardiovascular Pharmacotherapy, the ESC Working Group on Pulmonary Circulation and Right Ventricular Function, and the European Society of Vascular Medicine (ESVM)
