Vincent Poher: Clinical Validation of Rapid Whole-Blood Fibrinogen Measurement
Vincent Poher, Chief Executive Officer at BIOCELLIS, shared a post on LinkedIn about a recent article he and his colleagues co-authored, published in Thrombosis Research, adding:
“A little late in sharing this, but perhaps at the right time.
Last May, Thrombosis Research published the first full analytical and clinical validation of the Tsmart FIB Batrox assay on the LabPad Evolution platform.
The study demonstrated strong correlation with the laboratory Clauss method (r = 0.94), excellent diagnostic performance at the clinically critical 1 and 2 g/L thresholds (where it matters most for severe bleeding), and rapid quantitative fibrinogen measurement from citrated whole blood.
Importantly, the assay was also shown to be insensitive to major anticoagulants tested, including heparins and DOACs.
This last point is particularly important for us.
Our chemistry could make rapid fibrinogen measurement especially relevant in highly anticoagulated environments such as cardiac surgery, extracorporeal circulation and critical care, where every minute matters.
Congratulations to the entire team and all our clinical and scientific partners who contributed to this important milestone!
Following the acquisition of the key LabPad assets and technology by Biocellis, we are fully restarting the LabPad program.
This publication is therefore more than the conclusion of years of development.
It is the scientific foundation for a new chapter, with the ambition to bring LabPad back to the market and develop a broader point-of-care haemostasis platform.
And this is only the first of several clinical publications to come.
More to come!”
