”Funded 4-year PhD – Sustainable Artificial Blood Vessels (Home students only)
I’m looking for a motivated and dedicated UK/Home student to join my lab at the University of Hull on a fully funded 4-year PhD, offered through the BBSRC Yorkshire Bioscience Doctoral Training Partnership (YBDTP).
The project, “Development and validation of next-generation sustainable artificial blood vessels for modelling cardiovascular diseases”, will develop sustainable, microfluidic and bioprinted blood vessel models to study cardiovascular disease and thrombosis under flow.
You’ll gain experience in:
– Advanced biomaterials and bioink development
– Microfluidics and organ-on-a-chip
– Bioreactor design and vascular biomechanics
– Collaboration with industry (Jellagen®)
You’ll be supervised by a multidisciplinary team: myself and Dr Sarah Crossland from Medical Engineering at the University of Hull, Dr Simon Calaminus from Hull York Medical School, and Dr Vanessa L Hearnden from the University of Sheffield.
You will receive joint training at the University of Hull and the University of Sheffield.
