Ashkan Shoamanesh: Should Intracranial Hemorrhage Survivors with AFib Receive Anticoagulation?

Ashkan Shoamanesh, Associate Professor of Medicine (Neurology), Marta and Owen Boris Chair in Stroke Research and Care at McMaster University, shared on LinkedIn:

”Should intracranial hemorrhage (ICrH) survivors with atrial fibrillation receive anticoagulation?

If so: under which clinical circumstances?, after what time interval?, with what strategies to mitigate ICrH recurrence risk? and what is the level of supporting evidence?

These are common yet challenging questions in stroke practice, with many remaining unresolved.

We address them in detail in our recently published comprehensive review in the European Stroke Organisation Journal.”
