Laurent Bertoletti: BAT-VTE is One of 7 Projects Funded Under the EFFECT Trial Call!
Laurent Bertoletti, University Professor and Hospital Practitioner at Jean Monnet University, Saint-Etienne, shared on LinkedIn:
”Great news from the European Union!
BAT-VTE is one of seven projects funded under the EFFECT Trial call, supported by ERA4Health
Already launched in France with the support of the PHRC and the Directorate General for Healthcare Provision (DGOS), the study is led by INNOVTE, with the support of Philippe Gabriel Steg‘s F-CRIN FACT network.
BAT-VTE is a pragmatic academic trial evaluating a therapeutic de-escalation strategy in patients with venous thromboembolic disease receiving antiplatelet therapy, aiming to reduce the risk of bleeding without compromising efficacy.
While the data are reassuring in patients receiving anticoagulation for atrial fibrillation, the question remains open in patients requiring anticoagulation for VTE, a distinct population.
European funding now allows the study to be extended to Spain and Italy, with David Jimenez and Roberto Pola, MD PhD as national coordinators, and the assistance of W Ageno and E-Crin.
This is a source of great joy and a collective success for pragmatic, patient-centered clinical research on a European scale.”
