Blood Disorders: More Than Just a Diagnosis – Malaika Mehboob
Malaika Mehboob, Student Ambassador of Physiogic, shared on LinkedIn:
”Blood Disorders: More Than Just a Diagnosis
Blood disorders encompass a wide spectrum of conditions affecting red blood cells, white blood cells, platelets, and clotting factors.
From anemia, which impairs oxygen delivery, to hemophilia and clotting disorders that disrupt normal hemostasis, each condition reflects a unique pathophysiological mechanism.
Genetic disorders like sickle cell disease and thalassemia highlight how molecular changes in hemoglobin can significantly impact quality of life, while conditions such as leukemia and autoimmune blood diseases demonstrate the complex interplay between the immune system and hematopoiesis.
Polycythemia and platelet deficiencies further remind us how imbalance, whether excess or deficiency, can lead to serious clinical consequences.
Early diagnosis, evidence-based management, and patient education remain critical in improving outcomes.
As healthcare professionals and students, understanding these disorders at a cellular and clinical level is essential for delivering holistic and compassionate care.
Continuous learning in hematology isn’t optional; it’s vital.”
