Stefan Gerner on Stroke Care and Subarachnoid Hemorrhage
Stefan Gerner, Senior Physician at Erlangen University Hospital, shared on LinkedIn:
”Two new publications from our teams in Giessen and Erlangen, addressing clinically relevant challenges in stroke care.
Acute ischemic stroke and DOACs (Giessen)
We demonstrate that a urine-based DOAC dipstick can rapidly identify relevant factor-Xa inhibitor activity (>= 100ng/mL), supporting safer and faster decision-making for intravenous thrombolysis in the emergency setting. For more information, see.
Subarachnoid hemorrhage and imaging (Erlangen)
Our study evaluates established imaging scores in SAH and shows their prognostic value for functional outcome, mortality, and complications, highlighting their utility for risk stratification in clinical practice.
Both projects emphasize translational research with direct relevance to everyday stroke care.
Many thanks to my excellent teams and all collaborators involved.”
