Beverlyn Anyango Polet: Bold Solutions for Maternal and Reproductive Health at the AYSRHR 2026
Beverlyn Anyango Polet, Reproductive Health Nurse at County Government of Kakamega and Executive Board Member at Reproductive Health Network Kenya, shared a post on LinkedIn:
”Preventing women from dying during pregnancy and childbirth is NOT a medical mystery.
It is a moral failure.
It is a policy failure.
It is a global injustice.
Women are not dying because we lack knowledge.
They are dying because their lives are not treated as a priority.
We already know what works:
- Skilled midwives and frontline health workers.
- Fully equipped and functional maternity units.
- Timely referral and emergency obstetric care.
- Respectful, dignified, and inclusive maternity services.
- Sustainable financing and accountability for maternal health.
What’s missing is political courage, equitable investment, and leadership that puts women first.
Global and African leaders must stop normalizing preventable maternal deaths.
Every woman who dies while giving life is a reminder that systems failed her.
Every statistic represents a stolen future, a grieving family, and a broken community.
This is not charity.
This is justice.
This is rights-based health care.
This is non-negotiable.
These hard truths—and the bold solutions required—will be at the heart of discussions during the 9th Pan-African Adolescent and Youth Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (AYSRHR) Conference, hosted by Reproductive Health Network Kenya (RHNK).
White Sands Sarova, Mombasa.
2nd – 5th June 2026.
The conference will convene policymakers, health professionals, advocates, youth leaders, and development partners to move from rhetoric to results—and demand accountability for maternal and reproductive health outcomes across Africa.
- Maternal deaths are preventable.
- Inaction is a choice.
- The time to invest in safer motherhood is NOW.
Be in the room.
Be part of the movement.
Be on the right side of history.”
