Anirban Sen Gupta: PlateChek Links Platelet Status to Hemostasis Outcomes in Whole Blood
Anirban Sen Gupta, Wallace R. Persons Professor of Engineering in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Case Western Reserve University, shared JTH‘s post on LinkedIn, adding:
“At the recent Medical Technology Enterprise Consortium (MTEC) PlateletSoT meeting there were exciting discussions on the need for diagnostic platforms that can sensitively and specifically correlate platelet status (count and function) to hemostasis outcome, especially in a ‘whole blood’ setting.
This is what we are trying to build utilizing the PlateChek platform. The work described in this publication is the first step towards it.
More to come…”
Journal of Thrombosis and Haemostasis (JTH) shared a post on LinkedIn about a recent article by Dante Disharoon et al, adding:
“PlateChek: a surface-functionalized dielectric microsensor for specific detection of platelet-related hemostatic impairment in whole blood.
PlateChek introduces innovative whole blood coagulometry technology directly correlating platelet count and function defects to hemostatic impairment, offering precision diagnostic capabilities to guide transfusion decisions beyond conventional count-based thresholds.”
