Elvira Grandone: ISTH Launches An International Survey to Capture Real-World Practice of Pregnancy Anemia
Elvira Grandone, Associate Professor at University of Foggia, Head Thrombosis and Haemostasis Unit, Medical Research Director at Casa Sollievo of Sofferenza Hospital, shared on LinkedIn:
”Anemia in pregnancy remains a major yet under-addressed global health issue.
It contributes significantly to both postpartum hemorrhage (PPH) and venous thromboembolism (VTE), particularly when unrecognized or inadequately treated.
For this reason, the ISTH has launched an international survey to capture real-world practice in the diagnosis and management of anemia during pregnancy.
A core objective of this ISTH project is to obtain a truly global snapshot, including perspectives from high-, middle-, and especially low-income countries, where the burden of anemia is highest and access to diagnostic and therapeutic resources can be most limited.
Participation from colleagues in these settings is therefore particularly valuable.
The survey explores current practice regarding hematologic assessment, iron therapy, and clinicians’ views on anemia-related bleeding and thrombotic risks.
It is voluntary, confidential, and takes approximately 20 minutes to complete.
Your contribution will help identify gaps in care and inform future international guidance.
Completion of the survey implies consent.

Thank you for contributing to research aimed at improving pregnancy outcomes and advancing women’s health worldwide.
Kind Regards.”
