Alessandra Bosch: Swiss Delphi Consensus Study on Thrombophilia Testing Indications
Alessandra Bosch, Clinician Scientist at University of Zurich, Attending Physician (Senior Consultant) at Kinderspital Zürich, shared a post on LinkedIn about a recent article she and her colleagues co-authored, published in Hämostaseologie, adding:
“Our Delphi consensus study on thrombophilia testing indications in Switzerland is now published in Hämostaseologie!
Considerable variation across international guidelines persists and despite their widespread use, thrombophilia testing practices remain heterogeneous.
We brought together 42 clinical experts from the Swiss Society of Haematology (SSH) and the Swiss Society of Pediatric Hematology and Oncology (SSPHO) to change that.
After two Delphi rounds, consensus was reached on 32 thrombophilia testing statements across key clinical scenarios: unprovoked and provoked VTE, unusual site thrombosis, hormone- and pregnancy-associated events, family history, and paediatric VTE.
I presented the findings yesterday at the SSH Diagnostic Meeting.
It was truly enriching to discuss these results directly with the haematologists and lab medicine specialists who face these decisions daily.
Thank you to all 42 survey participants and experts for your time and expertise, to my co-authors Cosima Suter, Lukas Graf, Sabine Ruosch Girsberger and the Working Party Haemostasis of the SSH for this great collaboration!”
