Kidist K.: First Balloon Pulmonary Angioplasty Performed as New CTEPH Program Launches
Kidist K., Director, Cardiovascular Strategy and Program Development at Atrium Health, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Today marks an exciting milestone for Sanger Heart and Vascular Institute with the official launch of a new clinical program dedicated to the care of patients with Chronic Thromboembolic Pulmonary Hypertension (CTEPH) and Chronic Thromboembolic Disease (CTED), led by Dr. Ted Frank.
In addition, today also marked the successful launch of our first Balloon Pulmonary Angioplasty (BPA) procedure, led by Nyal Borges – an advanced and highly specialized catheter-based treatment option for patients with CTEPH and CTED.
Special thanks to Aditya Sharma for vascular medicine and pulmonary embolism expertise.
We are especially grateful to Minhaj Khaja, and Dr. Bill Auger for their expert consultation, procedural guidance, and support in helping us build this program.
A special thank you as well to Brooke Martin for helping lead the development and coordination of the program.
As one of the few centers in the nation to offer this advanced program and procedure, this initiative will significantly improve access to life-changing, high-quality care for patients with chronic thromboembolic disease.”
