Lena Volland: Expanding Holistic Care in Bleeding Disorders Through Pelvic Health Physical Therapy at WFH Congress
Lena Volland, Founder and CEO of FlowLab, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“At the WFH World Congress last month, I had the opportunity to speak on another topic that is very close to my heart: care for women and girls with bleeding disorders, particularly related to pelvic health physical therapy.
In the U.S., the MASAC Recommendations regarding Physical Therapy Management for the Care of Persons with Bleeding Disorders include recommendations to screen for pelvic health concerns and refer to appropriate providers when needed.
It was great to explore not only why this matters, but also how we can realistically begin implementing these strategies in clinical practice.
Pelvic health issues, especially from the physical therapy perspective, are largely unexplored within the bleeding disorders community.
That creates a really exciting opportunity to expand care in a more holistic way and better support women and girls living with these conditions.
It also opens the door for important future research and collaboration.
I’m really encouraged to see these conversations gaining more attention, and I’m excited to see where this work can go next.
If you’re interested in pelvic health, bleeding disorders, implementation strategies, or research in this space, I’d love to connect and continue the conversation.”
