Akshat Jain: Pleasure to Present at the Insightful Latin America Hemophilia Meeting

Akshat Jain, Hematology Pediatric Workforce Task Force at American Society of Hematology, shared a post on LinkedIn:

”Had the pleasure of attending and presenting at the Insightful Latin America Hemophilia meeting.

My learnings from the meeting and interactions with colleagues in Sao Paolo:

  • The major unmet needs cut across territories. The list of top 5 concerns for patients and Hemophilia specialists remain more or less same weather its North America , Latin America or Asia.
  • Lack of access to recombinant factor 9 in Brazil poses a serious challenge to clinicians here,who have to contend with plasma derived F9. This HAS to change in a country with over 12000 Hemophilia patients.
  • Impressed by how open the Brazilian colleagues are in addressing taboo topics like – sexual health, menstrual Health and psycho-social impacts of a chronic disease. Testament to an open minded and caring society and culture.

Honored to have shared my 2 cents at this summit.
