Jan T. Kielstein: Bleeding Risk Outweighs Potential Benefits of Rivaroxaban in CKD Patients
Jan T. Kielstein, Director of Braunschweig Municipal Medical Center, shared a post on LinkedIn about a recent article by Sunil V. Badve, published in JAMA, adding:
“Despite COMPASS off TRACK LBCT at ERA26.
While COMPASS showed a decrease of stroke and cardiovascular mortality under twice daily low dose rivaroxaban the same approach in patients with advanced CKD at high cardiovascular risk, low-dose rivaroxaban did not reduce the risk of a composite cardiovascular outcome.
The study was prematurely stopped due to major bleeding rates in the low-dose rivaroxaban group compared with the placebo group.”
