Abdulrahman Al-Mashdali: Emerging Role of Anti-CD38 Therapy in ITP

Abdulrahman Al-Mashdali, Hematology Chief Fellow at Hamad Medical Corporation, shared a post on LinkedIn about a recent article he and his colleagues co-authored, published in Blood Reviews:

“‘Targeting CD38 in Immune Thrombocytopenia: Rationale and a Scoping Review of Daratumumab’

In this review, we examine the emerging role of anti-CD38 therapy, particularly daratumumab, as a mechanistically distinct treatment strategy for patients with refractory or relapsed immune thrombocytopenia (ITP).

Current evidence suggests promising clinical responses, including rapid platelet recovery and durable remission in selected heavily pretreated patients.

Proud to contribute to this work alongside an outstanding team of collaborators Shehab Mohamed, Ayman Dalol.

Thank you to all my co-authors for their collaboration, expertise, and dedication throughout this project.

Published in Blood Reviews (Elsevier), a Q1 journal in Hematology with a 2025 Journal Impact Factor of 5.7.”
