Lee G.: Can We Transform Dengue Patient Management with Better Coagulation Assessment?

Lee G., Sales and Marketing Manager at AMD Solutions Sdn Bhd, shareda post on LinkedIn:

“Can we transform dengue patient management with better coagulation assessment?

Every year, dengue affects millions of people worldwide, yet clinicians still face critical questions:

  • Which patients are truly at high risk of bleeding?
  • Can severe coagulopathy be detected before clinical deterioration?
  • Are platelet counts alone sufficient to guide transfusion decisions, or are we missing part of the picture?

Viscoelastic testing, such as thromboelastography (TEG), has shown promise in evaluating clot formation, clot strength, and fibrinolysis in various clinical settings. However, its role in dengue management remains underexplored and deserves further investigation.

I am exploring the potential collaboration in clinical study to evaluate TEG alongside conventional coagulation biomarkers in hospitalized dengue patients. Our goal is to generate evidence that could improve early risk stratification, optimize blood component utilization, and ultimately enhance patient care.

I would welcome collaboration with:

  • Hematologists
  • Infectious disease physicians
  • Emergency physicians
  • Intensivists
  • Pathologists
  • Clinical laboratory scientists
  • Universities and research institutions
  • Hospitals interested in multicentre clinical research

If you share an interest in advancing evidence-based dengue care, I’d be delighted to connect and explore potential collaboration opportunities.

Together, we can generate the evidence needed to improve patient outcomes.”
