Dino Mehic: Presenting New Insights into Thrombin Generation at ISTH 2026
Dino Mehic, Physician Scientist at Medizinische Universität Wien, shared on LinkedIn about a recent article he and his colleagues co-authored, published in RPTH, adding:
”Excited to share that today at the ISTH 2026 Congress we presented our poster on thrombin generation in pediatric ECMO patients – and even more exciting, our study was also published today in RPTH Journal.
Key findings:
- Thrombin generation decreases with increasing anti-Xa activity.
- At anti-Xa ≥0.4 IU/mL, thrombin generation was nearly abolished.
- Only thrombin peak and endogenous thrombin potential correlated with anti-Xa.
A special thank you to Alisa Wolberg for giving me the opportunity to contribute to this project.
As always, I learned an incredible amount from working together and analyzing these data.
I’m also grateful to my co-first author Katie Clouthier as well as all other co-authors, for their outstanding collaboration and valuable contributions.”
