Joseph Pierre Aboumsallem: Paris Certainly Delivered This Week, and Not Just Because of the Heat
Joseph Pierre Aboumsallem, Drug Development Lead – siRNA Therapeutics, Postdoctoral Researcher, Project Manager at Erasmus MC, Project Manager at University Medical Center Groningen (UMCG), shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Paris certainly delivered this week, and not just because of the heat.
ISTH 2026 was packed with excellent science and some really interesting discussions.
A few topics that stood out to me were:
- The growing role of AI in research and scientific publishing, especially the importance of maintaining high-quality, reliable data.
- Immunothrombosis, inflammation and their links with cardiovascular disease.
- Gene therapies and siRNA-based therapeutics that are moving closer to clinical application.
- New insights into NETs and haemostasis.
- Translational research that is making a real difference for patients.
These are only a few highlights from a meeting that covered an impressive range of science. I am heading home with plenty of new ideas, pages of notes and a long reading list.
It was also a pleasure to reconnect with colleagues, meet new people and have so many stimulating discussions throughout the congress.
A big thank you to all the speakers for sharing their work and insights, and to the organisers for putting together such an outstanding meeting. It was a fantastic event, and I am already looking forward to the next ISTH Congress.”
