Dhamirah Nazihah Mohd Nasiruddin: A Milestone in My Haemostasis and Thrombosis Journey at ISTH 2026

Dhamirah Nazihah Mohd Nasiruddin, Head of Haematology Unit, Quality Manager for the Department of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine at Sultan Ahmad Shah Medical Centre IIUM, shared on LinkedIn:

”A memorable and rewarding week at the International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis (ISTH) Congress 2026 in Paris!

From 11–15 July 2026, I had the privilege of attending the Congress at Paris Expo Porte de Versailles with my colleague, Ramlah Binti Mohamed Ibrahim.

One of the main highlights was presenting two posters based on research projects that I conducted during my haemostasis and thrombosis fellowship at the Royal London Hospital (RLH), UK:

  • Congenital fibrinogen disorders
  • MYH9-related disorders

I am sincerely grateful to my supervisor, Dr Suthesh Sivapalaratnam, and the entire Haemophilia Centre team at RLH for welcoming me into their centre and giving me the opportunity to undertake specialist training and participate in meaningful research.

I was also honoured to be invited to the Early Career Lounge to share my recent Reach-the-World Fellowship experience.

Having received training fellowship grants from both the European Association for Haemophilia and Allied Disorders (EAHAD) and the International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis (ISTH), I am deeply grateful for the opportunities these programmes have provided to strengthen my knowledge, research experience and international collaborations in haemostasis and thrombosis.

Throughout the Congress, I attended as many scientific sessions as possible, covering bleeding disorders, thrombosis, obstetric and gynaecological haemostasis, trauma, surgery, paediatric bleeding and thrombosis, and many other areas.

With so many excellent sessions running concurrently, it was impossible to attend everything—which reflects the remarkable breadth and quality of the scientific programme.

Thank you to ISTH, the organisers, speakers and contributors for delivering such a successful, stimulating and truly international congress. I returned home with new knowledge, fresh perspectives and renewed motivation to contribute further to the field.

I hope to attend future ISTH Congresses and, one day, contribute more actively through one of the ISTH Scientific and Standardization Committees.”
