Lachlan Dalli: Cross-Country Analysis of DOAC Adherence After Stroke
Lachlan Dalli, Research Fellow at Monash University, Statistical Editor at American Heart Association, shared a post on LinkedIn about a recent article he and his colleagues co-authored, published in International Journal of Stroke, adding:
“Our new study published in the International Journal of Stroke represents the first cross-country comparative study from our INSPIRE-STROKE consortium (44 collaborators across 17 countries.)
In this study, we focused on standardising datasets and coding between Australia and Canada for the reliable measurement of adherence to Direct Oral Anticoagulants (DOACs) post-stroke.
This leveraged our new TEN-SPIDERS standardised medication adherence framework and statistical coding.
While adherence to DOACS appeared to be higher in Canada, differences were substantially reduced after adjustment for pre-supply, survival, early refills, and switching.
This work directly arises from my research visit to Amy Yu’s lab in Canada last year, thanks to a Heart Foundation Postdoctoral Fellowship and Collaboration Exchange Award.
The next step is to scale these methods across more countries and medications to better understand global patterns of post-stroke care.”
