Khaled Musallam: A New Era In Thalassemia Care
Khaled Musallam, Group Chief Research Officer at Burjeel Holdings, shared a post on LinkedIn:
”My favorite project of the year is here!
I was honored to lead this dedicated Thalassemia Series, developed in collaboration between The The Lancet Haematology and The Lancet Regional Health – Southeast Asia.
The Series was launched today to a full room of experts at the opening of the ASCAT Congress in London, and is now accessible through a dedicated The Lancet Group microsite.
Bringing together regional and international experts, the Series revisits the burden of thalassemia in high-prevalence regions like Asia, provides expert perspectives on recent advances in care including disease-modifying and gene therapies, and explores opportunities to future-proof thalassemia care and reduce global disparities.
At its core are four expert Reviews, bringing together 48 authors from 28 countries, which are further enriched by an Editorial, Commentaries, Patient Voices, and an Authors’ Podcast; bringing together scientific, clinical, regional, and patient perspectives on where thalassemia care stands today and where it needs to go next.
A special thank you to The Lancet and its Editors for giving us this opportunity and platform to share our collective voice and vision for the future of thalassemia care, and to all our coauthors for their invaluable contributions, expertise, and collaboration in bringing this Series to life.”
