Rucha Patil: National Convening Highlights Opportunities for Equitable Hemophilia Care Across India

Rucha Patil, Scientist at Department of Haemostasis and Thrombosis, ICMR- National Institute of Immunohaematology, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“Honoured to be part of the National Convening on ‘Advancing Hemophilia Care in India’, organised by Global Health Strategies (GHS) in New Delhi on 8 October 2026 with eminent faculty Mr. CK Mishra, Former Secretary, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, Dr. Naveen Thacker,

It was a privilege to be a panelist for an important discussion on ‘Lessons from existing initiatives, evidence and models that can inform the way forward’, moderated by Dr. Tulika Seth (AIIMS), alongside Padma Shri Dr Suresh Hanagavadi, Dr. Parul Bhatt and Dr. Shikha Garg.

The convening also featured a critical discussion on ‘Understanding the persistent gaps, unmet needs, and opportunities to strengthen care’, moderated by Dr. Nita Radhakrishnan with Dr. Tulika Seth, Premroop Alva, Dr.Rahul U R and Dr. Cecil Ross, bringing diverse clinical, public health and health-system perspectives to the table.

The discussions reinforced an important message: while India has made meaningful progress in haemophilia care, the way forward requires us to bridge persistent gaps in access, strengthen existing initiatives and translate evidence into actionable policies and sustainable models of care.

Congratulations to Global Health Strategies and all contributors on the launch of the white paper, Advancing Hemophilia Care in India — an important step towards building a roadmap for standardised, equitable and preventive care for every person living with haemophilia.

The goal is not just to advance treatment, but to ensure that progress reaches every patient, everywhere.”
