Markus Gregorio Barbosa: Hepatic VPS35 and Cholesterol Homeostasis

Markus Gregorio Barbosa, Former PhD Candidate at UMCG, shared a post on LinkedIn about a recent article he and his colleagues co-authored, published in Molecular Metabolism, adding:

”Happy to share that our latest study is now published in Molecular Metabolism

Our findings reveal a novel role for hepatic VPS35 in cholesterol homeostasis, linking impaired lipoprotein uptake and lysosomal cholesterol metabolism to metabolic liver disease and atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease.

A great collaborative effort with Cristy Verzijl, Dyonne V., Bart van de Sluis, all the co-authors, and our collaborators at EndoConnect, Laboratory of Pediatrics, Beatrix Children’s Hospital UMCG NL and UMCG research. Thank you all for your contributions.”

Title: Hepatic retromer is essential for systemic cholesterol homeostasis by regulating lysosomal cholesterol handling
