Saja Al-Zamili: Minimally Invasive Hematoma Evacuation in Intracerebral Hemorrhage
Saja Al-Zamili, Internal Medicine Lecturer at Al-Ayen University – College of Medicine, shared a post on LinkedIn about a recent article he and his colleagues co-authored, published in Brain and Behavior, adding:
“I am delighted to share the publication of our new systematic review and meta-analysis in Brain and Behavior:
‘Minimally Invasive Hematoma Evacuation for Acute Spontaneous Supratentorial Intracerebral Hemorrhage: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis With Trial Sequential Analysis.’
This study synthesized evidence from 12 randomized controlled trials involving more than 2,300 patients. Our findings indicate that minimally invasive hematoma evacuation may reduce overall and six-month mortality in patients with spontaneous intracerebral hemorrhage.
However, the absence of a significant improvement in function
al outcomes – and the observed risks of rebleeding and cardiac events – highlight the importance of careful patient selection and continued high-quality research.
I am honored to have contributed to this work through methodology, validation, and manuscript review and editing.
This publication is especially meaningful to me as a physician, Internal Medicine residency applicant, clinical researcher, and lecturer at Al-Ayen University College of Medicine.
It reinforces my commitment to evidence-based medicine, interdisciplinary collaboration, and research that can meaningfully inform patient care.
My sincere gratitude goes to my co-authors and everyone whose dedication made this work possible.”
