Fabrice Cognasse: Advancing Transfusion Medicine Through International Collaboration
Fabrice Cognasse, Director of Research – Scientific Director at The EFS in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes and INSERM, shared a post on LinkedIn:
”Two intense days of science, discussion, and international collaboration within the BEST Collaborative – Biomedical Excellence for Safer Transfusion.
It was a real pleasure to represent the Établissement français du sang (EFS) and SAnté INgéniérie BIOlogie St-Etienne (SAINBIOSE) in Atlanta alongside Pierre Tiberghien and Fanny Delettre, with Catherine Humbrecht also joining remotely.
BEST is built around a simple but powerful idea: advancing transfusion medicine and cellular therapies by working together across borders. The EFS is strongly involved in this collaborative dynamic through numerous projects spanning Cellular Therapy, Clinical Transfusion Studies, Donor Studies, and Conventional Components.
This international engagement directly contributes to the EFS public service mission: improving transfusion safety, advancing knowledge, developing tomorrow’s blood products and practices, and ultimately improving patient care.
But BEST is also, above all, a scientific community: expertise being shared, data being compared, new ideas emerging, and collaborations growing over time. A big thank you to all our international colleagues with whom we already share ongoing research projects — and to those with whom new collaborations are now taking shape.
A very special thank you to Rebecca Cardigan PhD FRCPath for her commitment, energy, and leadership as President of BEST, and my very best wishes to Denese Marks, who is taking over this role.
Two remarkable and charismatic scientists, deeply committed to the participative, collective, and collaborative research culture that lies at the heart of BEST.
Transfusion research moves forward faster when ideas, expertise, and data cross borders.”
