Valentina Ajello: Does ANH Benefit Women in Cardiac Surgery?

Valentina Ajello, Cardio vascular anesthesia and intensive care at Tor Vergata University Hospital, shared a post on LinkedIn about a recent article she and her colleagues co-authored, published in JAMA Surgery, adding:

“Proud to share our new paper in JAMA Surgery: a secondary analysis of the ANH Trial focused on women undergoing cardiac surgery.

Among 405 women, ANH did not reduce red blood cell transfusions (38.8% vs 44.6%).

It was linked to more intraoperative hypotension (16.0% vs 4.8%) and longer ICU and hospital stays.

We need more gender equity in research, now.

Congrats to all co-authors and the ANH Trial team!”
