Anna Aldehag Reflects on Her 12 Year Leadership in Sweden National Board of Health and Welfare
Anna Aldehag, Head of Unit of National Donation Center at Stockholm County, shared on LinkedIn:
”Thank you for the past year – and thank you for me!
Now that it is time to take stock, not only of the past year but of the years that have passed, I feel both sadness and anticipation.
After more than four years as head of unit at NDC and a total of twelve years at the National Board of Health and Welfare, it is now time to hand over the reins.
I am extremely proud of the work that has been done under my leadership, including:
• Promotion of pediatric organ donation – Knowledge support with national recommendations
• Guidance for healthcare providers on donation – About accommodating the individual’s willingness to donate and the conditions for organ preservation treatment
• Connecting the Donation Registry to 1177.se
• The Donation Guide, which recently celebrated its first anniversary
• Sweden’s first action plan for organ and tissue donation
• Developments in the field of blood with individual-based risk assessment, NAT testing, and the plasma assignment
• Registry work in the field of gamete donation and the start of the important work on a future digital national knowledge support system
• Our preparations for the role of national competent authority in the field of human materials.
A warm thank you to everyone at the National Board of Health and Welfare (Socialstyrelsen), to my colleagues in management, and to my fantastic co-workers.
Thank you also to those involved in donation and transplantation, as well as to patient and interest organizations.
I am deeply impressed by the commitment and work being done in this area.
Finally, I would like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
Sharing some photos from yesterday’s Christmas party and farewell with the unit, as well as two photo collages that reflect this year’s work and efforts.”
