Diwakar Mittal: From Dialogue to Action: Advancing Sickle Cell Disease Care in India
Diwakar Mittal, Senior Director – Corporate Affairs at Novo Nordisk, shared a post on LinkedIn:
”From Dialogue to Action: Advancing Sickle Cell Disease Care in India
Addressing sickle cell disease (SCD) in India requires more than awareness. It demands sustained collaboration, collective accountability, and a shared commitment to health equity.
The National Sickle Cell Disease Advocacy Forum in New Delhi brought together senior representatives from NITI Aayog, the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, the Embassy of Denmark, UNICEF, leading medical experts and patient advocacy groups to advance this important public health priority.
With India accounting for nearly a quarter of the global SCD burden, the challenge is significant, particularly for underserved and marginalised communities.
Achieving India’s 2047 ambition will require translating policy intent into meaningful impact through early diagnosis, accessible treatment, stronger healthcare systems and patient-centred care.
At Novo our commitment is to advance health equity through meaningful partnerships, sustained advocacy and collaborative action that strengthens access to care for communities affected by sickle cell disease.
The real measure of our progress will not be just the conversations we initiate, but the lives we improve.
Together, we must move from dialogue to action, from commitments to outcomes, and from partnerships to lasting impact.”
