Thrilled to Present The ISTH Roberts Award to Donald Arnold – ISTH
International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis (ISTH) shared on LinkedIn:
”NEWS: The ISTH is thrilled to present the ISTH Roberts Award to Donald Arnold!
This award is given to individuals who have used their time and talents to support the mission of the Scientific and Standardization Committee (SSC) that goes beyond what is expected over a significant period of time.
Across nearly three decades in medicine, Arnold has moved between bedside care, clinical trials and international collaboration in the pursuit of uncovering the missing mechanisms behind complex platelet and bleeding disorders.
Among his most significant achievements is the launch of an immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) patient registry and biorepository with his colleagues, designed to deepen understanding of the disease.
Today, the program includes data and samples from approximately 1,200 patients, creating a valuable resource for advancing research and patient care.
‘There have been many people before me who have studied ITP and tried to dissect it and understand it, but they haven’t really succeeded in doing it yet,’ he said. ‘I’m determined to crack the code of ITP.’
