Fionnuala Ní Áinle, Consultant Haematologist at Mater Misericordiae University Hospital, Vice-Chair of International Network of VENous Thromboembolism Clinical Research Networks at INVENT-VTE, Associate Editor of Journal of Thrombosis and Haemostasis, Chair of Guidelines and Guidance Committee of the International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis, Member of Council of the International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“The long awaited LEAD study has just been presented at ISTH 2026 by Prof Marc Rodger . Amazing achievement and first high quality data evaluating a diagnostic algorithm for suspected DVT in pregnancy.
Pre specified secondary outcome suggests impressive safety data using trimester – adjusted D-dimers:
For LEFt score less than 2 and D-dimer below trimester-specific threshold (40% of all patients):
- 1st trimester: less than 500 ng/mL
- 2nd trimester: less than 750 ng/mL
- 3rd trimester: less than 1000 ng/mL
- 120/298 (40.3%)
Adjudicated VTE: 0/119
- Failure rate 0%
- 95% CI 0.0-3.1%
Congratulation also to Marc Righini, Grégoire Le Gal, Helia Robert-Ebadi and to the power of networks : INVENT-VTE”
