Mavis Agnes Kisakye: Strengthening Healthcare Access for Bleeding Disorders in Uganda
Mavis Agnes Kisakye, Health Officer, EVD Response at Uganda Red Cross Society, shared a post on LinkedIn:
”The Haemophilia Foundation of Uganda (HFU), with the generous support of the Novo Nordisk Haemophilia and Haemoglobinopathies Foundation (NNHF), continues to push the boundaries of healthcare accessibility.
Our team, led by our dedicated Project Lead, recently traveled to Kabale and Kisoro to establish and integrate Haemophilia and other bleeding disorder services into these regional hospitals.
Navigating the land of a hills requires resilience, as the geography is defined by its iconic sharp corners and steep terrain.
However, the need for care is even more pressing than the landscape is challenging.
The leadership and teams in these districts were ready and waiting for our arrival as early as yesterday, recognizing the urgent demand within their catchment areas.
Kisoro and Kabale serve as critical touchpoints for both local residents and refugee populations.
By establishing care here, we are ensuring that no patient is left behind due to distance or displacement.
We remain committed to building a sustainable healthcare structure that brings hope and access to every corner of Uganda.”
